Job description

No matter which country you’re in, the transition from an economy based on fossil fuels to one based on sustainable energy sources is well underway. Our proprietary solid-state battery technology will allow us to develop and commercialise safe, high performance and affordable products for a diverse portfolio of customers, from mobility, stationary energy storage and consumer electronics.

To this end, we offer three positions to join the team as Sr. Automation Electrical Engineer.

 

MAIN FUNCTIONS

The Sr. Automation Electrical Engineer isresponsible for the definition of the electrolyte manufacturing process of Basquevolt’s solid & semi-solid proprietary cells. The Sr. Automation Electrical Engineer will work closely with the Process Engineering Director to accomplish the process defined targets.

Reporting directly to the Process Engineering director, they will be responsible for:

  1. Develop and execute complex process control system integration projects for Basquevolt current and future scale-up production process.
  2. Program, configure, test, and commission PLC and HMI based control systems to facilitate data acquisition and integrate with supervisory control system.
  3. Configure process measurement instrumentation, integrate associated data acquisition with PLCs, and historize process data to SQL databases.
  4. Specify controls hardware including PLCs and associated IO, to facilitate data acquisition.
  5. Communicate with the equipment vendors for their control system and on-site commissioning of equipment as it is delivered to the factory.
  6. Support to develop of advanced manufacturing process to ensure solid electrolyte Li batteries production in a safe and quality focused manner and to improve process SOPs for all equipment operation.
  7. Design the wiring for the OEM controllers, i.e. robot controller, motion controller, vision system, and create and maintain the system wiring diagram.

The Sr. Automation Electrical Engineer is expected to work as a key team member within the Process Engineering department to provide innovative solutions to process and manufacturing definition of Basquevolt cell solutions.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual capable of taking up this challenging opportunity to develop an ambitious project. Applicants should have a high degree of initiative and should be open to intense interdisciplinary collaboration, first in an early-stage start-up but moving progressively to an efficient mid-size organisation.

The Sr. Automation Electrical Engineer should have experience in the development and manufacturing of polymeric electrolytes, ideally within a corporate organization.

Specifically, we will assess expertise in the following aspects:

  • BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field of study.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial automation experience in the materials production environment.
  • Strong programming skills to build full-scale applications that include safety, process control, motion control, instrumentation, robotic, PLCs (Siemens, Beckhoff, AB, GE), HMI, alarm management, device networks, cybersecurity, and data collection.
  • Ability to directly manage automation engineering team.
  • Ability to make electrical drawings & full controls design packages.
  • Proficiency developing strategic architecture of control software for complex automated production systems and designing communication networks.
  • Direct experience in implementing MES, SCADA and PLC solutions to materials manufacturing facilities.
  • Interpersonal skills in developing positive working relations with other employees.
