Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

CIC energiGUNE is looking for a person to be Intellectual Property Manager. This person will report to the General Management of the Center and will coordinate closely with the rest of the Management Committee, including the scientific and technological areas.

Job functions:

  • Analysis of existing patent reports in order to make strategic decisions in the different scientific-technological areas of the center.
  • Analysis of the different IP protection formulas arising from the results management process and taking into account the center's strategy.
  • Preparation of patentability reports on ideas generated in the three scientific-technological areas, taking into account strategic aspects of the center.
  • Technological surveillance at patent level in the scientific-technological areas and drafting of reports.
  • Review of contractual clauses for the protection and transfer of technology.
  • Implementation of a cross-cutting strategy for better protection of the center's intellectual property assets.
  • Deployment of an intellectual property analysis and reporting system to feed the different directions and areas of the center, as well as to execute follow-up.

Requirements

Expertise:

  • Technical training background: engineering, physics, chemistry. Other economic training background may be considered. Very interesting to have a Master’s degree in intellectual property or similar. Holding a PhD would be valuable.
  • Proven experience in the field: at patent agency level or at the level of similar positions in technology companies or research centers.
  • Experience in elaborating reports for strategic decision making.
  • Experience with different patent databases.
  • Experience in data processing, database generation and different data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, power BI, SQL) will be an asset.
  • Languages: fluent in spoken and written English. Basque preferable.

  • Skilled written and verbal communicator, including the ability to present complex information in a way that is understandable to different audiences (scientific, technological and also audiences less specialized in the field).
