CIC energiGUNE is a research center specialized in energy, electrochemical storage (batteries and supercapacitors), thermal energy solutions and hydrogen, a member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance- BRTA, and, a strategic initiative of the Basque Government. Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are now offering internship opportunities in the field of Electrochemical Energy Storage (EES) and Thermal Energy Storage (TES). If you want to join a young, dynamic, collaborative and multidisciplinary team, learn from world-renowned scientists, and use state-of-the-art equipment and technology, this is your opportunity!

Applications are open to students in areas like materials science, physics, chemistry, engineering, or related topics who wish to develop their research skills.

These are projects to be carried out as FP/graduate/master internships for approximately 5-6 months.

RESEARCH AREA & TOPICS:

Projects in Electrochemical Energy Storage Area:

  • Optimization of the Formation Cycle for Enhanced Performance in Sodium-Ion Batteries (Febr 2025 – July 2025)
  • Impact of Na2C4O4 sacrificial salt on the sodiation mechanism and SEI properties by Operando Raman Spectroelectrochemistry (Febr 2025 – July 2025)
  • Polymer-based Lithium Metal Anode Protection (Sept 2025 – Febr 2026)
  • Design of High-Power Density Flow Battery Stacks (Sept 2025 – Febr 2026)
  • Zwitterionic-based polymer electrolyte for high energy density batteries (Sept 2025 – Febr 2026)
  • Development of Advanced Liquid Electrolytes for High-Performance Lithium Metal Batteries (Sept 2025 – Febr 2026)
  • Development of scalable synthesis routes for new oxy-halides ceramic electrolytes with high conductivity properties (beyond liquid electrolytes) (Sept 2025 – Febr 2026)

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

We are looking for students currently studying at a higher education institution in order to obtain a Vocational Education, Bachelor or Master's degree at the time of the internship, preferably in materials science, physics, chemistry or engineering.
