Job description

CIC energiGUNE is seeking a Maintenance Technician to help ensure the proper operation, availability and safety of its technical facilities, laboratories and research areas.

The selected candidate will join the centre’s Maintenance Team and, under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, will carry out preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, diagnose technical incidents, perform minor adaptations, follow up technical interventions and support the operational coordination of suppliers and subcontractors.

We are looking for a technically skilled, hands-on and solution-oriented professional with proven experience in facility maintenance and, preferably, specialised expertise in areas such as refrigeration, HVAC, electricity, electromechanics, thermal installations or a similar technical field.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance tasks in accordance with the established maintenance plan and applying technical judgement.
  • Respond to technical incidents affecting facilities, laboratories and common areas, identify their cause, resolve those within their area of expertise and escalate those requiring specialist intervention.
  • Support the inspection, maintenance and monitoring of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, automation, technical gas and other building auxiliary systems.
  • Participate in repairs, adjustments, assembly work, adaptations and commissioning activities in technical areas and laboratories.
  • Provide operational support in coordinating suppliers, tradespeople and subcontractors during work carried out at the centre.
  • Assist with the preparation of spaces, relocation of equipment, minor refurbishment work and adaptations required for scientific and technical activities.
  • Follow up technical interventions, verify that work has been completed correctly and report any deviations, risks or additional needs.
  • Comply with the centre’s internal safety, occupational risk prevention and maintenance procedures.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Higher Vocational Training qualification in maintenance, refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, electricity, electromechanics, thermal installations, mechatronics, industrial maintenance or a similar technical field. Candidates holding an Intermediate Vocational Training qualification may also be considered if they can demonstrate extensive and solid professional experience in facility maintenance.
  • At least 4–5 years of previous experience in the maintenance of buildings, industrial facilities, technical centres, laboratories, hospitals, pilot plants or other environments with complex technical installations.
  • Consolidated practical experience or specialist expertise in at least one of the following areas: refrigeration, HVAC, electricity, electromechanics, thermal installations, plumbing, industrial maintenance or a similar field.
  • Practical knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance, including the ability to diagnose incidents and propose technical solutions.
  • Ability to carry out repairs, adjustments, inspections, assembly work and provide support during technical interventions of a certain level of complexity.
  • Experience liaising with suppliers, tradespeople or subcontractors during maintenance work.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, coordinate with other technical professionals and act autonomously within the scope of the position.
  • A practical, organised and service-oriented approach.

 
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in research centres, laboratories, hospitals, industrial facilities or buildings involving complex technical activities.
  • Specific experience as a refrigeration technician or in the maintenance of HVAC, refrigeration, ventilation or thermal systems.
  • Professional certification or accredited training related to thermal installations, fluorinated gases, low-voltage systems, occupational risk prevention, work at height, mobile elevating work platforms, confined spaces, fire protection systems, ATEX environments or technical gases.
  • Basic knowledge of automation, control systems, fire detection systems or laboratory auxiliary installations.
  • Experience using maintenance management tools, work-order systems or digital incident-reporting records.
